The History of Taino Tobacco
The origins of premium Caribbean tobacco begin with the Taíno people—masters of cultivation and the creators of the first cigars. Their tradition of care, ceremony, and precision laid the foundation
“A tradition of craftsmanship and excellence in every draw.
Handcrafted in limited quantities in the early 1990s using Cuban-seed, Dominican-grown tobacco, this collection was entrusted by my father to the next generation with a single intention: to be released only after more than three decades of patient aging. Preserved undisturbed in 100% cedar, these cigars are reserved for those who recognize true distinction.”

Manuel Dominguez’s path to mastery was shaped by rare resilience, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His life experiences forged a perspective few possess—one that valued patience, precision, and the deep traditions of tobacco.
Guided by this philosophy, he created cigars meant to endure, mature, and eventually become a testament to time. His legacy lives on today through the Caonabo and Dominguez collections, entrusted to his successor, Manuel E. Dominguez, and released only after decades of intentional aging.
Our vintage collections began with my father’s vision in the early 1990s: to create cigars of unmatched quality, aged with time rather than urgency. Using premium Dominican-grown Cuban-seed tobaccos and storing every cigar in cedar boxes and bundles, he built a heritage meant to be unveiled only when it reached absolute maturity.
Today, after more than 30 years of natural aging, we proudly present the Caonabo and Domínguez Vintage Collections—crafted by his hands, preserved by his legacy, and released by my promise to honor his work.
From the legend of Chief Caonabo to the life and artistry of Manuel Dominguez, Caonabo Cigars carry a story of resilience, precision, and tradition—preserved through time and revived for those who appreciate meaning in every draw.
